One Year Anniversary of Affordable Health Care ACt

Challenges and Opportunities of a health Act that promotes wellness!

As we celebrate the Anniversary of the affordable Health Care Act, let us not forget that its future is in the hands of nine unelected Supreme Court Judges.

For what it is worth, the Judges should see if this Act is accessible, affordable, accountable, efficient, effective, equitable and responsive to the environment of Freedom of CHOICE!

In the end we should ask does the current health system promote wellness or sickness?  Should we not promote a wellness health industry instead of a sickness industry.

Remember the experience of President Clinton and Vice President Cheyenne- with their respective White House Cardiologists and Cardio-thoracic Surgeons?  Is this what we want for the rest of Americans who do not have access to the best White House MDs in the world?  Think again!

These six criteria of 3As and 3Es with Freedom of Choice should be the basis of their decision and not which party nominated them to the NATION"S  MOST POWERFUL COURT>

I look forward to your alternative perspective and here is the Press Statement from the Secretary of Health, for our reference.

Statement by Secretary Sebelius on the Affordable Care Act

Today marks the two-year anniversary of the enactment of the Affordable Care Act, the law that gives hard working, middle-class families the security they deserve.  It’s only been two years, but we’re already seeing that the law is making a difference in the lives of Americans.

It’s helping seniors. New data shows that more than 5.1 million seniors and people with disabilities on Medicare saved over $3.2 billion on prescription drugs because of the health care law. That’s about $635 per person in average savings and money back in the pockets of America’s seniors.

It’s helping women. Because of the Affordable Care Act, 45.1 million women – including 20.4 million women with private health insurance and 24.7 million women with Medicare – can receive recommended preventive services without having to pay a co-pay or deductible.  Important preventive services, like mammograms and Pap smears are free. And in 2014, insurance companies can no longer charge women higher premiums just because they’re women.
It’s helping young adults. Because of the law, 2.5 million more young people have health insurance coverage.

It’s reducing premiums and lowering costs. Your insurance company can no longer raise your premiums by double digits without justification. And the law helps you get the most from their premium dollar: The health care law requires that premium dollars must be spent primarily on health care, not administrative costs like overhead or CEO salaries. So far, an estimated 74.8 million people have been protected by this new requirement.

And the law is protecting Americans with pre-existing conditions such as cancer or asthma. Already nearly 49,000 people have enrolled in the Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan, and it is now illegal for children under 19 to be denied coverage due to a pre-existing condition. The law also eliminated lifetime dollar limits on coverage for over 105 million Americans—they no longer have to live with the fear that if an illness strikes, they could max out their health coverage.

There are many more benefits to come from the law, too. Until then, learn more about the benefits, protections and programs of the Affordable Care Act at www.healthcare.gov. You can also see the stories of how Americans from across the country are benefiting from the law at www.healthcare.gov/mycare.

The Great Ethiopian Oromo Heritage within the Global Millennial Renaissance of People of African Descent

The Great  Ethiopian Oromo Heritage within  the larger Global Millennial Renaissance of Peopleof African Descent-Challenges and Opportunities

What is the role of modern Ethiopians in the Great African Diaspora?

I read with interest the above article and wondered where and when in time and space are we living?

This cannot be 2012 and the United States where such gross human dignity, freedom and divinity is disrespected.

In 2012 , we have access to accurate information via land, water and space communication including cyber based Social Media Network where each person can have access to a variety of information.

We are the dawn of the 21st Century where globalization is almost universal.

Good Governance that is transparency, accountability and responsiveness to stakeholders is critical in the global market of ideas, communication and transactions.

The fact is the Oromos of Ethiopia constitute the majority of Ethiopians and have been Kings, Queens, Presidents, Prime Ministers, Generals, Engineers, Marathon Champions,  who in effect are the Big Bang and Black Hole of Ethiopianism and Pan Africanism the foundation of current OAU and African Union.

The Bekafa Dynasty in Gondar, the Sheba Dynasty in Axum, the Solomnic Crown in Shoa were all founded and operated by the Great Oomo Ethiopian Noble Patriots.

A little research in to Ethiopian History shows all the Great Architects of Ethiopia and AU are people of Oromo and Ethiopian descent.

One can go through the list of our great men and women and there is no time to do so in such a brief comment.

I for one will testify that the Oromo Ethiopians are one of the Greatest Patriots of Humanity, where Haile Sellassie the Ist, King of Kings of the Lion of Judah's mother is the beloved Yeshimebet- an Oromo ETHIOPIAN Princess, I could say the same with almost all the Ethiopian Kings South to North and East to West of the Horn of AFRICA.

My educational and cultural heritage testifies that my people of Ethiopia are all noble and have a unique challenge to maintain this nobility with hard work, productivity, creativity and innovation that the time and space demands.

Let us focus on a bright future where our children will be propelled to compete in the global market of ideas and not be terrorized by psychological terror that does not match the proud history of our people as the only nation on earth that has not been colonized and dominated for millennia.

It takes courage to stand up to such great heritage and own it and work day and night so that none of the 120 or so Ethnic groups in Ethiopia or over 900 nationalities in Africa and People of African Descent in general are honored and respected any were in the world.

Yes, we have challenges but they are not insurmountable.  We need to believe in ourselves like our ancestors before us and commit each other to the highest level of cultural and technological competence second to none.

I testify with evidence our challenges are ignorance, self disrespect that can be changed with education and hard work.

Let us use modern technology such as Iphone, Ipad, MacBook Pro and Imac with global cyber communication tools to encourage each other to be productive and own enterprises across the world, where our histories will be written along side the innovators and entrepreneurs of the world.

Yes We can change the current paradigm of hopelessness with transformative renaissance that envisions a glorious future of opportunity for all.

I look forward to learn from your alternative perspective.

with respect

Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act

Imagine STOCK Act passing today almost after four year of the Greatest Financial Crisis due to Wall Street-Congress Insiders dealings of the worst kind in history!

It is just amazing why the Congress cry foul on "Regulation" and demanding to de-regulate the Financial Institutions.  Now we know why!

Good governance demands transparency, accountability and responsiveness to the changing needs of the Stake-holders- in this case the Citizens of the World and that of the USA.

We need both self and Government regulations supported by quarterly survey and annual report to Congress will be ideal

Let us hope we have accountable congress and wall street to ensure such level of error does not happen again!

Senate passes bill on insider trading, sends measure to Obama
By Alexander Bolton - 03/22/12 02:00 PM ET
The Senate on Thursday passed legislation barring lawmakers from using insider information for personal profit, sending the bill to the White House.

The Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act already approved by the House passed the upper chamber easily by a vote of 96-3.

The Senate action circumvents a thorny amendment sponsored by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) requiring political intelligence operatives to regularly report their activity. The Senate adopted the Grassley proposal by a vote of 60-39 in February, but the GOP-controlled House opposed the Grassley's language and did not include it in its version.
Instead of holding a conference between Senate and House negotiators to discuss the differences, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) opted to take up the House bill.

The Grassley language had created unusual political bedfellows.

House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.) opposed the language and did not include it in the House bill that passed overwhelmingly, 417-2.

Reid and his leadership team, along with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), voted against the Grassley amendment in the Senate, but leading Democrats including Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) supported it in the House.

Grassley’s language would have dramatically expanded the disclosure of lobbying activities by requiring specialists who glean valuable information from Capitol Hill to register and report their activities after making even one contact to gather political intelligence. Hedge funds and other money managers pay top dollar for the information, which can be used to make lucrative trades.

Grassley voted against final passage of the STOCK Act in the Senate along with GOP Sens. Richard Burr (N.C.) and Tom Coburn (Okla.).

Supporters of the bill hailed the measure, which they said could restore public confidence in Congress.

“We passed a strong bill with teeth that will clearly and expressly make it illegal for members of Congress, their staff and their families to gain personal profits from nonpublic information gained through their service,” said Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), a sponsor of the legislation.

“When President Obama signs the STOCK Act, we will have begun to restore some of the public’s faith in Washington,” she added.

Lawmakers sometimes possess nonpublic information that can be worth millions of dollars if known in advance by a well-connected trader.

Reid said earlier this week that he would skip appointing conferees to negotiate differences between the Senate and House bills. Reid said that unnamed senators would have objected to proceeding to conference and it would have taken too much time to vote them down.

Insider trading surged to the top of the political agenda in recent months after a report by CBS’s “60 Minutes” alleged senior lawmakers had profited from the knowledge they accrued as congressional insiders.

The report raised questions about healthcare stocks House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) bought during the 2010 healthcare reform debate once it became clear that the proposal of a government-run health insurance option would fail.

Boehner said he does not personally manage his stock portfolio.

CBS also scrutinized Pelosi’s participation in an initial public stock offering from Visa. She and her husband bought stock in the company while a bill to limit fees charged by credit card companies was pending in the House.

A spokesman for Pelosi at the time dismissed the allegations as “a right-wing smear."

Marketing Tips & Strategies for Home Health Marketing

Marketing Tips & Strategies for Home Health Marketingthumbnail

Home health care businesses are in great demand. With an aging boomer population and increasing longevity rates, home health care businesses can be lucrative.
If nobody knows your home health business exists because you're not marketing your services, then your business doors could close before you ever get them open. Several marketing strategies can help you attract customers and keep the money coming in to your business.

  1. Create a Power Partners Program

    • A power partners program is a type of joint venture program where you align your business with related businesses to form an easy source for repeat referrals. The primary power partner for a home health business is geriatric doctors or the various types of doctors that can refer your business to patients that require your services.

Some of the ways you can incorporate a joint venture program into your marketing efforts include exchanging text links or online banners with doctor and hospital websites. You can also do an ad swap, where you place an ad for your business in a doctor or hospital's online or paper newsletter and they place an ad in your online or paper newsletter.
You can also provide an "endorsement" or testimonial for your "partner" by telling your patients and newsletter subscribers that they are one of your preferred partners. You can also ask your doctors and hospitals to provide their patients with a free CD about your services. This is a great way to gain exposure by leveraging your partners' clients. You can also create signs to be displayed at your power partner's office and they can do the same for your office.
Another way to leverage your partnership is to send out direct mail to each other's mailing list in the form of a preferred vendors list. To keep costs down upfront, this could be done through email.

    Be an Online Information Resource

    • Establish a home health and health-related blog that is connected to your business website. Post at least three blog posts per week using keywords in your postings that people would use to find your product and service offering.
This is the No. 1 way people are going to find you online--from consistently updated content. Share your expertise and industry knowledge on your blog, which will help drive more traffic to your website and increase your search engine indexing results.
Search engines love blogs that are constantly updated with fresh information, so it's imperative that you post at least three times per week. Better search engine rankings means attracting more visitors to your site that you can turn into clients.

Position Your Business as the Local Expert

    • Another way to boost your business sales while increasing credibility is publicity. Public relations efforts are cost effective ways to reach your target audience.
The purpose of publicity is to inform potential clients and referral sources about your company, products, services and in-house talent and how it can help them to boost their own company revenues; to educate the media and potential clients to shape attitudes and behaviors and change perceptions on your industry; and to effectively communicate your marketing messages.

The benefits of a public relations program is it allows you to establish credibility and market leadership. Potential clients believe what they read in their trade publications over paid advertising.
You current clients also receive affirmation that their decision to do business with you is the right one when they see your business name in print. Public relations efforts elevate the profile of the company and increase the opportunities for repeat business and referrals and provide more exposure to your target audience.

Even though health publications have a varying number of documented subscribers, most have thousands of readers. Every one of these readers is a potential client, or at the very least may know someone who needs home health services.

Publicity is also a cost-effective method of advertising because it does not require a financial investment, but it is the most cost-effective medium in marketing to garner the attention of existing and potential clients. While an ad running in USA Today can run $96,200 per time, a well-placed article is free and has a high value because it helps to enforce credibility for your business.

To start your public relations program, develop a media list of local publications, radio stations and TV stations that might have an interest in running a story on your business and the services it provides.
Then you have to develop a media pitch or story angle to approach the media outlets with. You'll use this pitch to contact your media list monthly with a written press release that contains your story angle. After you submit your press release, follow up by telephone. Repeating these efforts with different story ideas and angles is sure to land you some free public relations.
