Re: Good Governance Vs Capitalism as the engine of Growth and Sustainable Development

The Universal Kingdom is based on Good Governance and not  series of "isms "

I read with interest the eloquent defense of Capitalism by our enlightened prophet below.

Good governance that is based on transparency, accountability and responsiveness to the interests of all stakeholders is key to our human and divine connection and sustainable survival as the human race and the unique planet.

What is perceived as strength by one landmark and one community can be perceived as weakness by others.  Survival of the fittest is a human perception and may not show reality as it unfolds.  I was watching a special BBC SCIENCE series called "Frozen Planet" and the American Science series of the Hubble discoveries and some unknown facts presented as Un identified Foreign Objects, etc and  concur that our knowledge and understanding of the universe is not complete.

Faith answers or understands the Why question whereas science is good at explaining why questions.  The real issue is what, who, when and where are not answered by the series of "isms" be it Capitalism, Socialism and Communism, etc.

The experience of unregulated capitalism is wiping out all the assets of the past 500 western civilization and we are back to Africa being the only Growth Continent.  The chinese are already investing their western earned resources into Africa where the Green Natural Resources are in abundance. The recent series of IMF & World Bank meetings and reports show capitalism as practiced over the past 30 years with deregulations, speculations away from manufacturing and infrastructure development is seen to be leading us to bursting of the series of technology and real estate bubbles.  The war on terror bubble is also going to bust future savings!

I will say let us learn from our experiences.  Our Ethiopian/African Sages say, Wise people learn from others mistakes, clever ones from their own, and fools continue to live in ignorance and abject poverty!

The issue is not this or that man made "isms" but Good Governance that is based on 3As, 3Es and Freedom of Choice.  For those un initiated the As stand for Accessibility, Affordability, Accountability and the 3Es, Efficiency, Effectiveness and Equity, ....

Please remember Freedom of Choice that can only happen where there is transparency, accounta bility and responsiveness or participation by concerned stake holders.

Yes Capitalism is great if corporate welfare is matched by Capital welfare.  In the end the rule of law should force us to develop our own internal tools of self regulation and professional standards that is accountable to the private and public sector.  We need to learn from Ponzi Schemes and Speculation Schemes of the last two centuries.

Remember: When ever enlightened geniuses of capitalism/Socialism/Communism emerge, we should us the Wisdom of Reagan, Trust but verify!  I will add if in doubt trust your Continuous Quality Improvement Tools of CORT Analysis and Option Appraisals of Decision Science.

Are we not judged by God relative to our kindness to the downtrodden and the disadvantaged ? Maybe. But since God created this planet and everything on it, including the laws of nature which dictate that the strong survive and the weak perish, why are models based on those laws so frequently disregarded? Can anything survive for long if it continues to lower its standards to the weakest 15% of itself ? All living things, from animals to humans, by following such an approach would become extinct in time. All companies and governments will eventually bankrupt themselves by governing their assets in this manner. Communism lived and died quickly because it strangled itself with an idealistic theory that sounded generous, but was seriously flawed. Socialism is like a deadly lung disease, wherein you eventually die by slow suffocation. Capitalism, alone, takes into account the true nature of our species and will always survive through self adjustment.


When the government underwrites whole markets, capitalism cannot work, and begin to lose track of the "real" values of the products within that market. In a capitalistic system, "stimulation" of the markets is the same as recreational drugs to a human being----it creates an unrealistic euphoria, which is short-lived and painful when the effects fade. False stimulation masks reality, rather than encouraging us to deal with it. But the pain of the way things really are eventually returns---no matter if the stimulant is repeated, because in the end, the government will collapse under the burden of propping up every failed or failing business. We continue to see this in our continued economic crisis.
